Musical Introduction to Rachmaninoff's Operas, 13.15 Uhr

In November, Opernhaus Zürich will present a new production of Sergei Rachmaninoff’s three operas: Aleko, The Miserly Knight und Francesca da Rimini. At Villa Senar, Prof. Philip Ross Bullock (Oxford University), the Basel-based baritone Robert Koller and the pianist Asia Ahmetjanova will jointly introduce the three works and their anti-heroes — featuring their key arias, performed live and delivered with entertaining virtuosity. This concert-lecture in English is guaranteed to be the most lyrical and exciting way to get in the mood for Sergei Rachmaninoff’s vastly underrated operas.

Please plan enough time to arrive at Villa Senar. Arrival with public transport is recommended due to limited parking slots. Door opening 20 minutes before beginning. No stiletto high heels are allowed, only flat shoes due to the delicate floor.
